My old high school and college team numbers were 0, 00, 000, 01 and 11. Coach chose me as team captain, not because she thought I could play; but, to build my self esteem. Usualy; a jersey number is chose that is from an admirable player and the low numbers like 0 through 1 are considered loser numbers. They could have retired my number? I never had the background in basketball in that I did not have the skill developed from years of practice. I had a boyfreind show me moves and I showed him moves. I learned from watching games on the television. I was discouraged by my theripist to quit, thinking I was doing it to impress someone. I played basketball because I was good at it and no other influences attached. Every so often, someone admits to the coach about their past. Imagine I mixed medication before the game so I would lose my memory of playing each game and so I could not feel the crowd. Coach knew I was on something. When coach said put on your high heels, she meant to wear your high tops. I had a special pair I wore. I had someone who believed in me that I went back year after year with a dream I could play the game.
