Is there a list of protected players anywhere?  I found a mock expansion draft but that's just someone's opinion.

Protected lists are never made public.

However, after seeing some of the picks, you get a feeling of who was and who wasn't.

Interesting that Stacey appears on the alleged unprotected list.
re: my other team, I agree that Kelly Mazzante will be protected and Shoey (Kelly Schumacher) won't be.
Back to the NC v Duke game. Go Blue Devils!
# 33- Steph Raymond- never forgotten by a fellow Huskie.

If the Fever leave Allison Bales unprotected I hope Atlanta snags her.  I still think she can be a top notch player in this league given the minutes.

I don't. She's a big stiff.

Kara Wolters didn't last long in this league, and I doubt Bales will either. Plus, the game has gotten faster and more athletic since Wolters left.

I gotta agree with idchafee on this one. I think Bales can be very effective if given minutes. I wasn't watching wbb during the Wolters @ UConn/WNBA era, so I can't really comment on that comparison. But to me, Bales isn't a big stiff. Yes, she may be slow getting up and down the court, but she's got great footwork, good vision and passing and can hit  jumpers with consistency. To me, a big stiff is a player that just plants themselves in the lane with their arms in the air and doesn't do much else. Bales has discernable basketball skills. It still kills me that we only missed her by one pick in last years draft. I mean seriously, bullsky, would you rather have Carla Thomas or Ali Bales right now?

I think it would be awesome if Atlanta got Bales in the expansion draft because she buried behind so many veteran bigs in Indy. She'll never get significant court time there.

Bales is a much better player than Wolters was.  Bales isn't ever going to medal in the 100M to be sure, but she's as fast down the court as some of the other bigs in the league and she's got more rebounding skill than most (she could rebound circles around Margo Dydek, for example - its criminal that Dydek is so tall yet only gets what, 6 boards a game?)  And I think that with some work she could develop some quality post moves that would make her a contender for a double double every night.

I'd take a healthy Carla Thomas over a healthy Ali Bales any day of the week.

Keep in mind, Carla had several nagging injuries last season. The best is yet to come for her.
