Not me. Alison Bales knows what it takes to win. Duke always had some measure of success in the NCAA Tournament (the best of which was the 2006 national championship game where Duke ended up #2). Bales has a jump shot, too. All she needs is some experience. Vanderbilt was used to getting beat up by Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia in the SEC (and then not making it too far in the NCAA Tournament...if they made it at all).
Carla Thomas is (or will be) in the same boat as Liz Moeggenberg...too many forwards ahead of her on the Sky depth chart. If both have success in the WNBA, it probably won't be with the Sky (especially with, at WORST case, having Chastity Melvin, Candice Dupree, and either Crystal Langhorne or Erlana Larkins...remember, this is a WORST CASE scenario). I think Bales has a lot of talent. However, I think she relied on her size to be her best asset. If she is works on her footwork and agility, I think she has the talent to make an impact in the WNBA. She does remind me of a young Dydek - primarly a defender, clog up the lane, shot blocking machine. Dydek developed into a better player when she went to Connecticut. I think a new team and more experience will provide the same developement for Bales.

The only problem with her going to Atlanta is they're likely gonna suck. Will it do her any good to be the main option on a 6-28 team?

Two things on this thread.
1) if the WNBA had more teams (say 20) I think you'd see and hear a lot more about both Alison Bales and Carla Thomas. Current rosters get clogged up and players get hidden away. 2) the WNBA should release the protected lists. Another league I'm heavily involved with the NLL has expansion drafts basically every year and makes it's lists public. Any press release is a move to more exposure and should be taken! |

Wow guys.
There's a big trade brewing. If it goes down(which I think it will) we will be talking about for weeks(maybe months) to come.
Sounds like Atlanta may trade one of their picks. And it's a pick not a lot of people have talked about.
Wow. I'm excited now!
